Think Outside the Author

At last, our AP Seminar Graphic Organizer Savior is Born

Think Outside the Author

After my first year of teaching this course, my partner in educational crime and I sat down and reevaluated the way we were having our Seminar students take notes on sources. Prior to teaching AP Seminar, we both had lots of experience with other CollegeBoard (praise be its name) classes and anyone who's ever used Springboard (makes the sign of the cross) is used to the value of a good graphic organizer and having one ready for every occasion.

While SIFT and TPCAST might have been good tools for analyzing literature, SMELL and SOAPSTone had their moments for non-fiction, and OPTIC was cool for doing the obvious, we felt like it was time for a graphic organizer just for AP Seminar. A graphic organizer that would help students unpack line-of-reasoning while adding their own critical responses. Thus, Think Outside the Author was born.

Below the e-mail wall, I offer to you, for free, one of the greatest tools in AP Seminar technology since CRAAPing, a Write All Along original...er... sort of. Shout out to Mrs. Crosby, miss you boo! The one below ain't pretty, but it functions. If you would like a beautified version along with four other graphic organizers that I created for this class, all for students to use as they encounter sources in their research, you can download them for just a few dollar-y-doos, right here.
